How To Get Started Utilizing The Atkins Diet http://dietfoodsrecipes.org/started-utilizing-atkins-diet Mon, 20 Jan 2014 07:14:34 +0000 http://dietfoodsrecipes.org/?p=4680

Many people around the world are constantly searching for innovative techniques to get in shape and shed extra pounds.  Lots of women are utilizing belly dancing as a enjoyable method to get in shape.  Instructional classes like Belly Dancing Class Atlanta are springing up everywhere to service this popular trend.

Nevertheless a lot of people tend to put attention more on diet rather than exercise for dropping extra pounds.  In the last thirty to forty years many individuals have found the Atkins diet to work very effective for rapid weight loss.

Back in the 1970?s a doctor by the name of Robert Atkins created a low carbohydrate diet plan that was known as the Atkins Diet.  The essential focus of his diet was to remove almost all carbohydrates from the food plan.

It’s as well has been thought of as a high protein eating plan generally as a result of the fact that whenever carbs are not available we will need to get our calories from proteins and fats.

The eating plan is designed in structured phases.  Much like most types of eating plans like this, the initial phase is the most restricted.  The first phase is referred to as the induction phase and is frequently ignored or skipped by many people.

The way this weight reduction plan works is rooted in the following concepts.  When we consume a large amount of carbohydrates, the sugars in them quickly generate an over-abundance of insulin.

Your elevated levels of insulin aid in converting food into fat in the form of triglycerides which is stored in our body and causes us to be more overweight.

A person’s body will move into ketosis in the case when there are minimal carbohydrates readily available.  Ketosis allows the body to instantly make use of fats for energy.  The body then produces ketones that help to reduce our appetites.

Ketosos is usually active in our body in cases where we consume 40 grams of carbs or less per day.  The typical individual on a standard Western diet typically consumes about 300 hundred grams or more each day.

There are actually some issues about using this diet.  You will need to pre-plan your meals to stay away from carbohydrates.  It’s essential to know the level of carbs in anything you eat.  Not eating carbohydrates may genuinely feel quite limiting for many people.

Another disadvantage is that by ingesting large amounts of protein from meats you are increasing your consumption of saturated fats which may not be as heart-healthy as many other diets.  You may want to consult with your doctor before starting and adhering to the popular Atkins diet.

Four ways to perfect pork chops http://dietfoodsrecipes.org/ways-perfect-pork-chops Thu, 07 Nov 2013 13:03:15 +0000 http://dietfoodsrecipes.org/?p=4648

Pork chops are one of quickest dinner staples in our house. They are so simple to cook and can be dressed up so many ways. I have lots of favourite pork chop recipes, but they all start with knowing how to cook the chops well.

I usually try to get the chops out of the fridge as soon as I start preparing to cook. Let them get to room temperature first. Pork has a mild flavor and does not have a great deal of texture, so the best way of cooking it is to add plenty of seasoning and cook on a high heat to get a golden colour and some crispy texture.

While your pork is getting up to room temperature you can give it some help in the flavor department with a speedy marinade. Add some olive oil and salt and pepper then add any of the these mixes, or improvise your own:

– smoked paprika and maple syrup
– crushed garlic and grated ginger
– crushed garlic and chopped rosemary
– jerk seasoning, garlic and thyme

Let your pork chops soak up the flavours for 20 minutes and then prepare for cooking. I prefer to fry chops as there’s more control of the cooking speed, but you could also grill them.

If frying, get the pan as hot as you can. Don’t add oil at this stage, as it will just spit and splutter. When the pan is really hot put the chops in. The secret here is not to mess about with them in the pan. Leave them be. Don’t poke or prod, just let them sit. If they sit for five minutes, they should develop a lovely crisp brown crust – this adds the vital flavor and texture. Flip over after five minutes and cook on the other side.

After this time, you can let the chops rest on a plate, covered with a piece of tin foil, for ten minutes. This helps the meat relax and also finishes the cooking process. Any juices which come out can be returned to the pan with a splash of white wine, add in the spare marinade and you have some instant gravy. Serve with mashed potatoes and some greens.

Caviar, the Health Benefits and Other Facts Explained http://dietfoodsrecipes.org/caviar-health-benefits-facts-explained Thu, 17 Oct 2013 20:47:34 +0000 http://dietfoodsrecipes.org/?p=4642

Caviar is a delicacy made from the eggs of a fish known as roe. It is often served as an appetiser or a garnish at swanky cocktail parties. The delicacy has a succulent taste and a butter-like texture that enables it to almost melt in the mouth. It is sourced from the Caspian Sea and is available in three varieties; beluga, osetra and sevruga. Caviar contains many nutrients which provide a number of health benefits. In this article we will explain what the health benefits are and why it is so good for you!

Caviar is often served as an appetiser, but in reality, it is so much more than a delicious delicacy!

Vitamin A – Boosting the immune system

Caviar is a fantastic source of vitamin A, which has a number of health benefits. Vitamin A is an antioxidant which can help protect your cells from diseases like cancer. It can also help your body fight off infections, viruses and bacteria by boosting your immune system. Vitamin A is known to improve the vision of those with poor or sensitive eyesight.

As well as benefiting your health in various ways, the vitamin A found in caviar can also help to enhance the appearance of your skin. Vitamin A is great for reducing the appearance of wrinkles and giving your skin a healthy glow.

Minerals – Regulating body functions

The fish-based delicacy is also a rich source of potassium and magnesium. Potassium is known to effectively lower blood pressure, regulate heart function and help with a number of other body processes. Some medical experts also believe eating caviar can help to prevent kidney stones, as the potassium prevents the calcium from forming stones in the kidneys.

Omega 3 – Preventing cancer

Omega 3 is a fatty acid that is found in caviar. This particular fatty acid is known for lowering the risk of breast, colon and prostate cancer. It is also thought that it can provide protection from heart attacks and strokes. If you are suffering from hypertension (high blood pressure) the omega 3 in caviar, along with the potassium can help to lower your blood pressure. Some studies have also shown that omega 3 may play a role in preventing Alzheimer’s.

Although the research is still in its early stages, it is also thought that the omega 3 fatty acids found in caviar may be able to help those suffering from mental health problems such as depression and bipolar disorder.

Vitamin D – Preventing viruses and bugs

Along with vitamin A, caviar is also rich in vitamin D. Most people get their dose of vitamin D from sunlight, however if you spend a lot of time indoors or live in a country that lacks sunshine, you may have a low level of vitamin D in your body. Vitamin D does good things for your body, helping to metabolise minerals like phosphorus and calcium. Like vitamin A, it can also help to boost your immune system and protect you from viruses and bugs.

Haemoglobin – Transporting oxygen

Patients that have undergone chemotherapy or surgery may benefit from incorporating caviar into their diets. Caviar helps the body to increase its haemoglobin content. Haemoglobin is a red blood cell component that makes it easier for oxygen to travel throughout the body.

Caviar helps

Caviar is best consumed in small amounts.

Although many people associate caviar as a delicacy loved by the rich and famous, it is much more than a glamorous appetiser. Caviar contains a lot of vitamins and minerals which benefit the body in a number of ways. If you plan on eating caviar for its health benefits, it is essential to incorporate it into a balanced diet. Caviar is very rich in salt and has a high calorie count, so eating large amounts will not provide the desired health benefits.

Best Advice for Finding Health Recipes to Try at Home http://dietfoodsrecipes.org/advice-finding-health-recipes-home Mon, 22 Jul 2013 09:08:05 +0000 http://dietfoodsrecipes.org/?p=4625

Health RecipesHave you ever wanted to try out a new recipe? As there is much more focus on eating and living healthily, you may want to look for healthier alternatives to your favourite ideas. That means you need to start looking for health recipes. Here are five things that will help you find something that is perfect for your needs.

1.      Consider Any Health Issues: The first thing to do is make sure the recipes are good for any health issues that you have. If you are diabetic, you will need to miss out all foods that can cause a spike in your blood sugars. If you have low iron levels, you will want food that will help boost that naturally. If you are allergic or have an intolerance to dairy, wheat or another ingredient, that will directly affect your ability to use certain recipes. Make a list of all the foods that you need to avoid and check any recipe for those. There are websites dedicated to offering recipes for specific health conditions, which are worth looking out for.

2.      Focus on Getting Healthy Foods: When you choose a recipe, make sure it is full of healthy foods. Fats can be good as long as they are mono or polyunsaturated ones; so look out for almond oil, olive oil and canola oil. You can have meat in your diet and even carbohydrates but the trick is to finding those that will help boost a healthy diet. You want ones that will off you all the nutrients that you need. Fruit and vegetables are the best sources for healthy foods so make sure any menu is loaded with them.

 3.      Think About How the Foods Are Cooked: It’s not just the type of food you eat but how it’s cooked that matters. Deep-fried options must be skipped. That doesn’t mean you can’t have chips. Make your own by chopping potatoes and baking them in the oven; you can pour good oils over them to get the crispiness on the outside. Baking and grilling are the healthiest options so look out for recipes that cook that way; or determine if you can change the way of cooking to make the food more healthy.

 4.      Make Healthy Changes to Your Current Favourites: You don’t need to look far to find a health recipe. One of the best things that you can do is take a recipe that you already have and make it healthier. Consider switching out meats for vegetarian varieties or even consider switching them for fish or poultry. Make changes to anything with pasta, rice or bread by switching from white to brown varieties and focus on healthier fats in meals. Do some research into the nutritional benefits of different types of food and see how you can incorporate them into your current favourite meals.

 5.      Find Menu Plans that Are Healthy and Balanced: A health recipe doesn’t mean you will get rid of all ailments you have. It is really important to focus on eating a healthy and balanced meal. Look out for website that will help you create a plan and remember that variety is good for you. You need fats, proteins, carbohydrates and fibre in your diet if you want to live a healthier and better life.

Take your time to look through various websites and blogs for health recipes. Remember that just because something is labelled “light” or “low fat” doesn’t mean it is going to be healthy. Think about the ingredients and the way it is cooked and always search for something specific for any health condition that you have.

Unexpected Healthy Foods

Unexpected Healthy Foods

The main reason why a lot of us struggle to stick to a healthy diet is that we feel we have to deprive ourselves of so many of our favourite foods. Well the good news is that there are in fact a number of foods that offer great health benefits you may not have expected and as long as you enjoy everything in moderation as part of a balanced, nutritious diet, you no longer have to feel as though you are missing out.

There are so many delicious pork recipes that are packed full of flavour that you can enjoy, guilt free. A common misconception suggests that pork is quite a fatty meat in comparison to the likes of chicken but the truth is all depends on the cut you buy. Pork tenderloin actually contains less fat ounce for once than chicken breast and is therefore a great choice as part of a balanced diet plan. Extra lean cuts are now widely available and if in doubt, you can simply trim off any excess fat to make the pork as healthy as possible, as it is also a great source of protein and iron.

Popcorn is a great source of polyphenols; a natural antioxidant that is known to benefit heart health. It has three times more than kidney beans (the biggest vegetable source) and four times more than cranberries (the biggest fruit source), showing just how nutritious it can be. Being a whole grain, it also helps you stay slim and ward off heart disease.

Sweet Potatoes

White potatoes are known to be very high in starch and therefore leave many people feeling bloated and uncomfortable.  Their sweet cousins however are an excellent source of iron, potassium, fiber, vitamin C and vitamin A, making them truly deserving of their ‘superfood’ title. Their powerful natural antioxidants also help keep cells in good condition, reducing the risk of illnesses like cancer and heart disease.

Dark chocolate is thought to keep the blood at a good consistency which is great for keeping the heart healthy and blood pressure at a normal rate. It has also been suggested that enjoying chocolate regularly as part of a balanced diet could help keep you slim, due to its ingredients that encourage fat burning as opposed to storage. It can even help fight off headaches and improve your mood by releasing endorphins in our brain; a natural chemical that is very good for us.

The probiotics in yoghurt help keep gums healthy by fighting off harmful bacteria. Healthy gums in turn help to protect the heart, as those with gum disease are proven to be twice as likely to suffer from a heart condition.

Ginger is more than just a flavour enhancer; it also helps combat the symptoms of nausea and motion sickness. It is also a natural antibiotic that lowers cholesterol and keeps the heart healthy while keeping blood circulation strong, easing the pain of those who suffer from arthritis.
